Road Scholar LLI Resource Network received correspondence from Mary Beth Kennedy Voda, a writer and speaker.

I am a writer and speaker who has presented my work to numerous educational, veterans, civic and other groups including lifelong learning institutes in Susquehanna University, Marywood College. I will be presenting this summer at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute in State College PA. My work has appeared in American History, Pennsylvania Heritage, Pennsylvania, Military Officer, WWII Chronicles, to name a few publications. My presentation, A War in Letters, is based on first person research. It chronicles the battle for Iwo Jima as seen through the letters, to their wives and children, of two combatants: my father, US Marine Pfc. Tom Kennedy, deceased, and the Japanese commander, Gen. T. Kuribayashi, deceased. Although oceans apart in ideology and culture, these men shared a common love of family and sense of duty to country.

I would be pleased to speak to you about my possible participating in your programs as a one-time presenter. You can go to: www.historynet.com/a-war-in-letters-june-00-american-history-feature.htm

Sincerely,

Mary Beth Kennedy Voda
